This was a fun light beach read. Maya has a crush on soccer team hottie Vince. Maya’s friend Robin has a matchmaking service (these guys are all in high school, so this is kind of a take with a grain of salt thing, but it’s still cute), where she has people email her their preferences, and she pairs them off. The trouble? Robin doesn’t think Maya Vince=

When Dove Barkley's sister, Madison invites her to dinner at her favorite restaurant, she is thrilled until she discovers, while she's there, that her sister is an agent with the CIA. Dove's resemblance to Madison gets her into trouble almost immediately, so it is a good thing that Madison's partner, Mendez is there to save her. Now she and Mendez are on the run and trying to bring down the infamous Holt, but can Dove trust Mendez to keep her safe, and is he really Madison's partner? The show more questions begin piling up and Dove isn't getting the answers she wants.
The Spy and I is a fun romantic suspense/adventure; however, it almost takes itself too seriously. It would have been a much better novel with more zany events and whacky humor. The story is told in first person without a dual POV, so the reader only gets Dove's perspective, leaving the other characters woefully underdeveloped. The mystery and chase are fairly good, if not predictable, but the ending leaves lots of loose ends that may be cleared up if this leads to a series. Overall, The Spy and I would make for a great summer beach read. show less

Predictable, but still fun.
The Plot:
Andee is a "superstar" fireworks designer, superstar being in quotes because of her famous father. Andee questions her lineage and discovers that the man she grew up thinking was her father, was not. In fact, her biological father is Holt, a dangerous arms dealer, who has been looking for his daughter for a while now.
The CIA gets to Andee first and we meet Chan, the attractive agent. Luckily, Chan stays behind to flirt with Andee because Holt's crew find show more her right after.
They abduct Chan and Andee and now the two must make their fake relationship believable while trying to get in contact with the CIA and save the world.
My Thoughts:
This book takes off pretty quick and we're straight in the story. Unfortunately, I'm binge-ing Brooklyn Nine-Nine right now so every time Holt is mentioned, I can only think of the captain.
Andee and Chan had that insta-lust so it was hard to really get a feel for them. They both came on way too strong for me.
The absolutely dangerous, lethal, criminals never acted like I was led to believe. There was one casualty, but Andee and Chan got so lucky that Holt was actually incapable of causing them any harm.
The plot followed a very predictable storyline and I was easily able to guess what was happening, but it was still a fun read. I haven't read many spy/cop type books so I was able to really enjoy this one. show less

Dove is an introverted hacker who makes a living showing companies the security problems within their computer network systems. She looks a lot like her older sister, a travel photographer, who also happens to be a CIA operative. Dove is mistaken for her missing sister, pairs up with the hot CIA operative looking for her and the story begins.
This was a fun, cozy read that I enjoyed. A little mystery and danger. The romance aspect was a bit insta lust, without any real action. I would have show more liked to see this with Mendez’ POV. 3.5⭐️
