A wonderful collection of essays devoted to cultivating a purposeful life. The 1998 edition contains the more essays covering a wider swath of life (lifestyle, money, and job), but this edition brings the discussion forward into a world of increasing complexity. It’s greatest value is not simply its ability to get you thinking through what you do and why, but also its exposure to a community of people who are already dedicated to a simpler and more purposeful life.
I thought for sure I had read other of her books but I can't find any record. Strange. Anyway, this one is set on a Shaw Island in the San Juans - right here in Puget Sound. And while it has several interesting plot points, the main one is murder on the island after a 9.1 earthquake hits the area. I'm not sure I would have been as interested had I didn't live here but I enjoyed it.
This book really kept me guessing. It was a story of a tragic young woman and the men who loved her. Or did they really love her? This is a good read and worth your time. I could not figure out who the murderer was.
a photojournalist is found crucified. Her friend tries to find out what happened, readable but no real challenge.
