I love books like this. Not only do you get a peek inside one person, you get to explore another time, place, and culture in a way that history textbooks will never match.

This meandering chronicle is the second half of Peter Jenkin's trip across America, and is the follow-up to the more successful A Walk Across America. He is also joined by his new wife, Barbara. The first book was about a man searching for answers about himself and his country. This one is more about finishing the hike—not nearly as compelling.

1973, a time of trouble, Peter began a walk across the US. The story of their spiritual journey, exhilarating adventure was also an exhausting test that pushed them to the edge of the spiritual endurance. Dramatic and daily challenges to find food, water and shelter became a crucible for their faith. The growing did not end at the end of the walk, God, led, protected and brought joy in the most ordinary occurrences of life.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Looking forward to reading the 1st part. Think I saw it at an estate sale several weeks ago and I could kick myself for forgetting to purchase it.
