This is a great informational book on the life of an elephant for children. Wilson’s amazing photos of every aspect of an elephant captures the imagination of any child. His variety of photos show elephants of all sizes, elephants in different environments or countries, and both wild and domestic. Wilson does a great job in relating these elephants in their natural environment to their unique relationships with people. This book has a great combination of illustration and information.
This book is full of large, moving photographs and has short, slightly humorous text to go with them. It is organized into sections on physical characteristics, behavior, and relationships with other elephants, other animals, and humans. It conveys an immense appreciation and respect for the animals.

Positive review from Margaret Mallett (Books for Keeps No. 169, March 2008)

This could be used to look at an author's point of view because their are many pieces of evidence in the text that show show more the author believes that elephants are intelligent, amazing creatures, but he doesn't come right out and say it. show less
