A decent recapitulation of the leftist war on American history and a riposte to their ideas. Leftists sometimes say they just want to teach the bad parts of American history, as if conservatives do not mention the bad parts. But, instead, leftist thought maintains that because there were bad things in American history, then America's foundations are bad, thus America is bad and to fix it you must create a new America. The fixes generally are Marxist: either Marxian-influenced race and gender show more theories and/or socialism/communism. Pre 2020 book, but still relevant. Not very deep in thought or research, it is for a wide public audience, not a graduate school historian. The thesis, though, can be found among actual, conservative historians, ones who don't hate America and think, despite its faults, that it is still "the last best hope of earth." Conservative historians in the academy, however, are a rare minority. Anyway... show less
Great book on how Critical Race Theory is rewriting over history. I know history is written by the victors, but are the current victors the racists now in command of discourse.
