Grandpa’s Secret by Barbara Davoll is a young child’s book. Christopher Churchmouse overhears Mama and Papa talking and thinks that Papa has lost his job. Christopher tries to help, but he has made a mistake and Grandpa can help. The story is based on Job 12:12. The illustrations by Dennis Hockerman add to the story. It is found in the children’s section of the library under the number E/DAV.
Christopher Churchmouse doesn't set out to disobey his mother, but when his cousin convinces him to play in the gutter that's just what happens. Because of this, Christopher and Ted end up stuck in the sewer drain with a big mean rat pack who wants to enslave them. Blessedly, Murky the mole leads them to safety and reunites them with their parents. Rainy Day Rescue gently explores the importance of obedience and making the right choices.
This is a story about two mice who decide to go into the church kitchen when no one is around. They want to try other foods that they don't always get like sugar and flour. Unfortunately, they spill and leave a mess. This mess causes all the mice in the church to be in danger.
I like this story and would want it in my classroom because it has cute mice, it has a good moral to it, and gives questions in the back for discussion. This book is appropriate for children ages 3-7

An unfortunate incident in church brings home to Christopher Churchmouse the importance of behaving with proper respect during the worship service.
