Thirty Days in the Land with Jesus by Charles H. Dyer is a devotional that is also a historical and geographical lesson about Israel. It covers thirty days, going through different sites each day as if the author was guiding you on an actual tour. It takes the reader through very familiar biblical names, and some not so familiar, and attempts to put you into the stories by describing the scenes. At the end of each chapter (or day) it challenges the believer and asks the non-believer to make show more a choice about accepting Christ.
Overall, I enjoyed reading this book One of the things that stood out to me were the photos. Most of the images I had formed about those places were way off from how they actually appear. After reading and viewing this book, I now have a different approach to the Bible. I'm not sure if the author intentionally used only a few (in many cases only one for each site) or not. In any case, they left me wanting to see more, and hungering to go set foot on these monuments of my faith.
So, kudos to the author for whetting my appetite for the Holy Land, and I would recommend this book for those who want to experience Israel without the means to make a physical visit. And also to those who are looking for a good devotional to draw closer to God.

A fantastic read and recap of many historically and theologically significant places and events in Israel! I have been to Israel twice but forgot a lot of the details, and this helped reinforce those and draw connections and parallels between locations and events.
NCLA Review - If ever the times cried out for straight talk about integrity, surely it’s now. In engaging but forthright prose, Dyer examines ten elements that integrity demands, beginning with honesty. His approach is solidly and refreshingly Biblical, and decidedly contemporary. I checked out his “modernized” Bible passages about familiar characters like Abraham, Solomon and Job, and saw contemporary parallels. This modern prophet does not scold readers; he coaxes them to peek in the show more mirror as he intersperses Bible tales with anecdotes drawn from his own and others’ experience. Character does count, but it must be developed and protected, so Dyer tells what to watch out for and how to maintain integrity. This would be an excellent study book for an adult or teen Sunday School class. “Reflect & Respond” questions after each chapter provide personal application. Rating: 4 —DKW show less
I really enjoyed this devotional survey of the Psalms. It was a good pairing with “Experiencing the Land of the Book” (also by Dyer); some of the concepts and stories overlapped, which helped to reinforce them!
