I often thought of the late 19th/early 20th centuries as a great time to be a traveler, to visit the world's wonders before they were put behind ropes or glass and surrounded in a haze of tourism. This book didn't really get into the exploratory aspect of early travel that I'd hoped, more focusing on a gossipy, celebratory-laden history of luxury travel in the era before travel was democratized. It was a fun, interesting - if fluffy - read all the same and contained several great images.
