[Off the Shelf] is a clean Christian novel about Anne Gibson, a widow living in a small town with her two young children. She serves as the librarian for the town library, which is housed in a large Victorian house that she inherited from her aunt. Anne has the advantage of making her home on the second and third floors of the house. In this book form the series Secrets of the Blue Hill Library, Anne and her friends track down some missing children's books and in the process discovers some show more secret dealings in town politics, suspected bribery, and construction schemes.

This book is part of a series, but can easily be read as a stand alone novel. It is a clean read, with no adult scenes, violence, or strong language. This was a good read where librarian Anne is faced with an old crime, or is it? Someone is sending out an article describing something that occurred on Homecoming Night maybe 20 years ago. It altered people's lives. Anne and her old high school friends try to uncover the dirty deed or else what will happen?

A good book about Anne opening a library in her Aunt Edie's Victorian house that she inherited. An old map surfaces in one of the donated books. Does this map hold the key to many of the town's old problems? I feel that thank goodness Anne has her friend and coworker Wendy, who looks after her kids more than Anne does!
