Guided By Voices frontman Robert Pollard is an intrinsically interesting figure; how many high school teachers in their thirties emerge as rock stars? Though there have been good previous biographies, this one is by far the most definitive and is the best for GBV completists. Yet the accumulation of detail is doubtless too much for general readers, particularly in the band's infancy. Since the author pretty much glosses over the last two decades of Pollard's output in a hurry, I could have show more used fuller coverage of that in place of the setlists and concert tours of the book's first half. In short, excellent for the enthusiast, not so much for general readership. show less
