Tells the story of Davey Warner and how he loves his cricket but isn't very good at it. He and his friends are always getting into trouble because they use any excuse to play cricket - even during detention. Davey owns an enormous cricket bat he calls "Kaboom" but can't seem to hit anything with it. That is, until he tries a move he calls "the big switch", where he changes dominant hands as the ball comes towards him. At first it only works on the odd occasion but as he practices and show more practices, he gets better and better. First in a series.
This will appeal to Junior school kids Grade 3 up. You do need a basic knowledge of cricket to understand the terminology. I like how the book started with a dream where he hits the winning six but the reality isn't "hero cricketer saves the day", but rather he's just an ordinary kid with big dreams. Not sure how much was ACTUALLY written by the cricket David Warner and his partner J.V. McGee. (These books were extremely popular at the 2015 Book Fair and sold out!)
