I Have Two Mommies. I have Two Daddies uses the rhyming rhythm of two children's voices to describe who their parents are and what they do. The pictures provide specific scenarios for the more general text. For example, when one voice says, "I have two daddies who taught me the goodness of sharing," there is a picture of the dads offering food to an implied homeless man. I like that the text and pictures don't shy from hardships children of two same-sex parents may face but don't get two show more specific either. On one page there is clearly an angry man shouting at the two dads, but they "stand tall and remain unshaken." This is a positive, powerful book for any child showing a reality seldom seen in children's picture books. One of the couples is also mixed race. I only wish the cover were more engaging. It has limited pictures of just two hands showing peace signs. That is an appropriate message, but too much of the cover is text which doesn't draw folks in, especially younger kids who are drawn to pictures.

I received a copy from LibraryThing's Early Reviewers in exchange for an honest review.

An excellent way to teach children about what makes up a family. I Have Two Mommies. I Have Two Daddies. shows it is LOVE and RESPECT that makes a family. The book also lets us know it is OK to ask questions about each other. It is written quite simply so a child can understand and enjoy. I like that the 2 dads are of different races too.

This is a sweet rhyming book about kids being adopted by gay parents. It's wild to me that a book as sweet as this was totally uncommon when I was a kiddo, but I'm so glad the newer generation has resources like this to bee seen with.

This is a sweet picture book about two diverse families, one child with two mothers, and one child with two fathers. Colorful illustrations and rhyming text get across the point that these families are no different, in their actions and their love for each other, from any others.
