Fascinating tour of historic places in Shanghai, which would hardly be apparent to anyone who didn't have this book! After all, only in Shanghai could they turn the birthplace of the Communist Party into an outdoor shopping mall complete with a Cold Stone Creamery.
Brief and somewhat truncated account of Shanghai by a longtime resident and author.
Some pretty amazing stuff here....e.g., a bowl w/ an inner lip that will accept and overturned bowl and is for fermenting cabbage. Water is placed in the lip creating a seal that will allow gas to escape. Ingenious. very interesting.
Dont bother. Not well written and not much of a story really. There are many more books out there with very interesting stories. If you do read this, check it out of the library - dont buy it.
