Joyce Meyer

This is a beautiful book to teach children about God's promises for us. I loved reading it to my children to remind them why we do not need to worry. Although the copy I received as part of the LibraryThing Early Reviewers program was a board book, the message was relatable to all of my children (and even me as an adult).

Many Christians get mixed up about love. They know they should love God and others, but many do not understand that loving oneself is one-third of God's equation. They mistakenly think of it as selfishness or self-aggrandizement.

Joyce Meyer believes that this misconception is one of the greatest pitfalls in the Christian journey. Loving oneself in a balanced, healthy manner is essential in order to have healthy relationships with God, ourselves and others.

Now this was interesting…I have heard many views about this so-called charismatic controversial Christian author. After reading this book…I begin to see why and my worry about this type of book is the almost magic wand approach she gives to prayer and that disturbs me.

With enough prayer…with enough faith…with enough belief all our failings can be solved…just like that.

I’m sorry…but no…life doesn’t work like that…we can’t show more wish away our wills. We can pray…we can hope…we can continue to strive…but sometimes God says no…sometimes God says yes…sometimes he says…not yet.

I think there is a certain arrogance in this book and I’m sorry to say in the author’s rose-tinted glasses…it is just wrong….this book angered me in places..too many places…way too many. I will not be reading any more by her. show less

I found this book to be extremely encouraging. I love this author’s message and her presentation of ways that we can listen and hear more of the messages we receive from God. She is confident and courageous in her approach. She says the amount that we hear can be increased based on our actions and suggests that we get quite more often. She further explains the difference between when our souls and our spirit speaks. She offers lots of personal experience to show how she hears from the Holy show more Spirit.

Of great interest was when she discussed being careful that we discern the differences from our intuition, God’s spirit, negative spirits and the negative influence of the world. She suggests getting still, be free from distractions and giving God more personal time.

I too believe that our daily life is full of opportunities to hear from the Holy Spirit. I enjoyed her viewpoints, the scriptures she cited and the questions that she asked the reader. An enlightening booK and one of my favorite books by this author. I highly recommend this book for other believers who want to increase their connection with God and His Holy Spirit. show less
