I always enjoy a compilation simply because I feel like the editor gets to share their opinions with you in how they choose their stories. I enjoyed reading the stories of Thor and Loki especially, because I have recently seen the movies it is cool to see the original story lines it came from. I also enjoyed having this as an audiotape version, I listened to portions in my car and I liked doing that with the somewhat familiar myths.
A simplified set of myths, all very short, mainly Greek Norse. Good, but very simple and short.
An excellent book of folktales, retold in vivid descriptive language. The art work that accompanies each story is also intriguing. A good book to share with middle and high school students.
½
Kind of warped and demented versions of the fairy tales I heard growing up. They was all very dark and it seemed like most of the characters were evil.
