Planting in a Post-Wild World: Designing Plant Communities for Resilient Landscapes by Thomas Rainer
I wonder who their intended audience is. The authors are a landscape architect and a landscape designer. Ah, it just hit me. If they were writing for colleagues, they would be preaching to the choir, as the material is nothing radical. They are obviously not targeting homeowners, as most of the examples are commercial in nature or else require a lot more money and manpower than is typically available to the DIYer. Besides the concepts are basic, but the detail offered is very technical. I show more think this book must be meant as a textbook, no matter how the publisher is marketing it. The cover says that Thomas Rainer is a teacher. If that means college prof, he’s writing for his students. show less
Planting in a Post-Wild World: Designing Plant Communities for Resilient Landscapes by Thomas Rainer
While definitely geared for landscape designers and professionals, the theory presented in this book really helped me understand a lot about planning and developing plant communities that work for different situations. I learned a ton and am so glad I picked it up.
