I have the fortunate opportunity to once again teach a program planning and evaluation class for the University of Wyoming. I have already taught this course a few times and thought it was time to change out one of the books. There was nothing wrong with the books I was using but I wanted to find a book that provided more tools for the learners. I am glad I did. Learning in Adulthood: A Comprehensive Guide (Jossey-Bass Higher & Adult Education) by Sharan Merriam
In this third edition, the authors explore differences and similarities between teaching traditional students and non-traditional students sometimes termed adult learners. Some in the book also argue that the vast majority of college students achieve the status of adult learner as they progress through the degree. One new addition in this edition is a discussion on andragogy (teaching adult learners) and whether it is a subset of or is different than pedagogy.
