I've read a few of Alexandra Campbell's books and enjoyed them, so it's a shame that she doesn't seem to be producing them anymore.
This book has a good combination of an interesting story and a wild and magical location. The boathouse, built into the rocks by the sea in Devon, is just as much a character as any of the humans. It is what links so many of the storylines in this book together.
I particularly enjoyed Dora's tales of her life with Maud and Bertie, her tales of what it was like in show more the 60s and the family secrets that she shared.
The more modern aspects took slightly longer to gel for me, but they did all come together and I liked how Lily found herself and came to a conclusion about what she would do with her life.
A very enjoyable tale of family life, and it made me wish I'd got a boathouse of my own! show less
