I saw this exhibit at the Pompidou in Paris and was absolutely blown away. The Combines are genius mixed-media pieces which are able to mix an element of the personal (many of the pieces and are able to make conceptual statements though a deep sense of self-awareness and exposure via R's “no holds barred” policy when integrating his own life into his work) with an overarching sense of the common experience. The photos in this book are beautiful and comprehensive (even with "lost" pieces) show more and the criticism and commentary is enlightening. show less
