All that was promised : the St. George Temple and the unfolding of the Restoration by Blaine M. Yorgason
Yorgason is a well-known author of Mormon fiction. This historical treatise of the building of the St. George Utah Temple in the 1870s is a welcome departure from his normal renderings. The book is well written, the information well documented, and the illustrations of interest. The depth to which the authors go in laying out the hardships and challenges of building what they refer to as the only true "pioneer temple" gives a comprehensive view of the whole process, in contrast to what might show more be told in the visitor's center on the temple grounds or by a tour guide. The prominent role played by Brigham Young and other major Church leaders of the time is equally of interest. A welcome addition to a library of Mormon history. show less
This is a deeply spiritual book about life, growing old, and death from the perspective of an American Indian. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Little-known LDS author (probably cause he doesn't write romance) writes this slangy comedy/adventure about life during the time of the polygamists in Utah. Great fun!
This is a simple little story, but I was pleased to see that I enjoyed it as much this time around as I did when I read it as a young person. It takes a great deal of character to do with one's life what Charlie did with his. The message of this book is a lot different than the message the world gives us today. In today's world, there would be no forgiveness of unkindness - just lots of demands for equal and fair.
