Richard Buckle's biography of Diaghilev details his life from his childhood in St. Petersburg to his final days in his Paris suite, and a last visit from Coco Chanel. The relationships of a lifetime are intermingled with the excitement of premiere ballets and the revolution of music that Diaghilev helped to make.

A series of follow-up essays dealing with the various class markers in English written and spoken usage. interesting read.
