Short biography
Lynn Garafola's dance articles and criticism have been published in Dance Magazine, The Nation, and the Times Literary Supplement. Professor Garafola served as guest curator of the exhibition "Dance for a City: Fifty Years of the New York City Ballet" at the New-York Historical Society. Her other exhibitions have included "500 Years of Italian Dance: Treasures from the Cia Fornaroli Collection" (with Patrizia Veroli) and "New York Story: Jerome Robbins and his World," both at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Currently, Professor Garafola is working on a new exhibition, "Diaghilev's Theater of Marvels: The Ballets Russes and Its Aftermath." The show will take place at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts beginning in June 2009, and will mark the centenary of Diaghilev's Ballets Russes. Professor Garafola is a former Getty Scholar and the recipient of fellowships from the Social Science Research Council and National Endowment for the Humanties.
