Those interested in American actions during World War I would be interested in this book, which was written in 1940.

This regimental history follows the 101st from creation through the end of the war. It covers the major actions experienced by the regiment and gives a glimpse of life as one of the soldiers. I really appreciated how the author included names of enlisted men where appropriate. Many other books only see fit to name the officers, but in addressing the death of an enlisted man, show more this book cares enough to give his name.

Hard to find, but worth it if you can get your hands on a copy.

My dad borrowed this book on March 2, 1939, and for whatever reason never returned it to the Portland Library. The story of Shaggy the little sorrel horse was my favorite book growing up, and still brings a tear to the eye.
