I have to say that I'm pretty shocked at the lack of publicity and reviews for this book - especially considering just how good it is. Maybe it's the synopsis for the book or the actual subject matter. Whatever it is, it shouldn't be a deterrence because this book is one of the most entertaining reads that I have gotten my hands on this year.

One of the things I liked most about this book was the snarky attitude. There's definitely a lot of sass and it really works well in this story. Ricky show more has a bit of a gloom-and-doom lookout on life (or the lack there of) and, although it would probably be annoying coming from someone in an ordinary story, it really works well for Ricky and his unfortunate circumstances. Trina was also a character with a lot of sass and I fell in love with her almost immediately. She's definitely one of my favorite characters [aside from Ricky] in this novel.

The plot of this story was amazingly unique and well thought out, even if it was a little predictable at times. I think my only complaint to this entire book is that I felt there could have been more in the book - or maybe I was just having so much fun I wished there was more to enjoy? Either way, The Cupid War is an engaging yet light read that will keep you entertained from the very beginning to the very suiting ending. Stuart's day starts out rough when he gets discovered by his younger brother "pleasuring himself" in the shower. He had no idea how quickly things could get so much worse in his little Canadian town.

Stuart is such an awesome character. His hobby is conjuring demons to question them regarding the realities surrounding his religious upbringing. Not your average hobby. One would think the townsfolk would be more concerned with the fact that Stuart is gay, than with his masturbation habit. show more Throw a couple of fallen angels into the mix and this story is rockin'.

I read this in one day. Stuart made me laugh, I loved his wry sense of humor. I would recommend especially to boys ages 14 and up. show less

The world is about to end. At least, as we know it. It is the end of the epoch for humans, and all those who wish to, should hear the call of the portals, taking them elsewhere, before the demons come to wipe out the world and reset it for the next dominant species. The problem is... something is blocking the portals, and time is running out for the humans. Humorous, very fun, light book. Great reading.

Short and funny book about the end of the world (believe it or not). The demons will consume all of mankind if the humans can't make it to the portal to be whisked away into another world. Teenagers Vincent and Max happen to come from a religious family - some kind of fundamentalist cult called the Triumvirites and, although the Triumvirites believe in the end of the world, they don't believe people should be consorting with pixies, elves, and demons.

Yes, this book got weird. It was rather show more violent, too. Nothing serious but a lot of punching and getting thrown around rooms. Must be a guy thing. Lots of tongue in cheek digs at Christian fundamentalists (in a light-hearted sort of way.)

I possibly would have liked this better if the elves hadn't been so - well, mean. They weren't really, really mean but they did some damage. It was a bizarre read with a few funny moments. show less
