Nancy Harvey leads the weaver through all the steps necessary to make a tapestry vest in this video. The techniques shown could be translated to other clothing pieces or even scarves. Nancy elaborates the details for this technique so that weavers with no tapestry weaving knowledge should be able to follow along and do their own fabric. The beginning part of the video shows the directions the various wefts must take in order to avoid problems in the weaving. I think that this part of the show more workshop is a bit overdone and could have taken less time to explain, however I must say she does get her point across. Nancy then explains her method to get a drapable cloth suitable for clothing (unlike the stiff tapestry pieces used for wall hangings or rugs.

After watching this video, I felt that I could design and weave a vest. The big question is whether or not I wanted to invest the many hours needed to do so. But I learned a great deal from watching the video and recommend it. The tapestry techniques of hatching and hachures, coupled with the extra tabby shots to achieve a drapable fabric, are certainly techniques that will be valuable to any weaver.
