My new friend Alan Rode turns out to be a splendid researcher. This fascinating biography of one of Hollywood's most familiar faces of the 40s-60s is detailed and wonderfully annotated. McGraw, who for a brief time was one of the classic faces of film noir and whose decline and tragic accidental death are heartbreaking, has always intrigued me, but it never occurred to me that anyone would ever write a book about him, much less one this substantial. Aside from a handful of typos, it's a show more really fine work. show less
Well researched book on tough guy McGraw who I always enjoyed on old time radio and in his films. It was always hard to find out anything about him but this book gives a great look at his life. Lots of interviews.
