Delilah is aggravated by a local empty lot full of trash, and is inspired to clean it up for all her neighbors to be able to use the lot for enjoyment, like a park, which is a noble aspiration. All her friends eagerly agree and see the logic of what she wants, but Delilah has a problem with being a bit too bossy, and she has to learn a lesson that one attracts more ants with honey rather than vinegar.
I liked this book for a few reasons. First the plot is interesting because it is like any summer day running into problems like in real life, and you want to know if they are able to find a solution to the problem in the end. The book also pushes readers to think because they try to teach the reader to look on the bright side to any problem. Looking on the bright side in different situations can help you find solutions to problems. The book was made for the readers to learn how to look on show more the bright side with a fun story. I liked this book when I was younger because I liked the part when the dogs destroyed the stand. show less
This is a good example of a fantasy because animals are celebrating together and having a party, which is a human thing to do, but it is still relatable to children’s lives, in the celebration of birthdays and friendship.
The characters in this story are very unique. Each one is an animal that starts with a different letter and has a name that also starts with that letter. They also have a personality characteristic attached to that letter. Although this story is short, these show more characteristics were displayed frequently. For example, when Emmy the Exaggerating Elephant called him, she barely let him speak and described how immensely excited she was for the special day. show less
I liked this book for a few reasons. First I have always love the illustrations in the book because one of the main colors I the book is the color yellow, which is my favorite color. The color yellow goes with pink so it was in a lot of the pictures and I think that it was one of the main reasons why I read the book so much when I was younger. Another reason is that the plot is interesting because you are waiting in suspense for Minnie to find Fifi and you are hoping she finds her in time show more for the pet show. Even when Minnie and Fifi don’t make it in time for the show you are still glad the Fifi was able to come back home. The story is meant to be entertaining but also teach kids to take care of their responsibilities and not to ignore them. show less
