Terrorists take control of airport traffic, and no one will listen to John McClane.

You can have a few laughs at its expense, but that's about all it's good for. I watched two movies last night: this, and A Queen Is Crowned - two hours of tedious ceremony, parading, and PBS fund drives. A Queen was by far the more entertaining.

A cop has a convict released to help him catch some badguys.

2/4 (Indifferent).

I went in expecting an Eddie Murphy comedy, and instead got an extra-violent, racist Dirty Harry ripoff. The protagonist (Nolte) is an unredeemed dirtbag. Murphy spends most of his screen time trying to establish that his character's not gay.

Badguys kidnap an ex-soldier's daughter; he doesn't cooperate.

Yes, it is terrible. Terrible, terrible, terrible. It's also the most fun I've had watching a movie in a long time. And not only because I'm laughing at its expense (although there's plenty of that); it really is a genuinely fun movie.

From the box: In this early action classic that features his unique blend of thrills and offbeat humor, Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as retired Colonel John Matrix. The wx-head of a special command strike team, he's forced back into action when his daughter (Alyssa Milano) is kidnapped. With the help of a feisty stewardess (Rae Dawn Chong), Matrix has only a few hours to overcome his greatest challenge: finding his daughter before she gets killed.
