After wading through four previous and tedious Future State collections, I finally hit one I like. And that's mostly thanks to the Yara Flor version of Wonder Woman, who occupies the middle two sections of the book. Joëlle Jones knocks her fantasy-laden section out of the park with story and art, and the team-up with Superman is just fun in a silly way.
The opening part with Nubia seemed like it was just starting to clear its throat, and the ending part with OG WW Diana facing the end of the show more universe was just too overblown, though almost saved by that big wristband bang at the end. show less

Interesting. It is a blood soaked rampage, but still tasteful for the genre. The housewife contract killer is kind of fun. The dialogue was good and the scenes move right along. Even the diversions, like the ex-nazi mother-in-law, were smooth and well written. Still, it's more of a sketch than a real story. I'd like to pick up volume 1, but I can't see this as something that would be really engaging over a long storyline.

I laughed hard while reading this dark comedy about a female serial killer. Josie Schuller works as a killer for a syndicate and is the perfect homemaker at night. She is gorgeous and dresses well so no one suspects what she is up to.
The story opens with her as an Avon lady, killing her client after offering her a lipstick. Then she gets a job in a nightclub, the Kitty Cat Lounge, where she dresses up as a cat to get close to a man her boss wants dead. She seems to love knives and messes show more which is not what you expect from a female killer. Page after page, Josie accepts jobs from her superior, a handsome man named Peck, and completes them within a day, all while looking picture perfect in her dream dresses.
As a former Avon lady, I was hooked from the first page. The author came up with a fresh, new idea with this female serial killer who kills like a man but enjoys domestic bliss. It is worth a look for those who enjoy comics. show less

I like Yara Flor as a character, and the art is pretty darn good throughout, but the storytelling in this collection, while aspiring to be zany and energetic, just comes off as a sloppy, slapped-together train wreck. I still like the Future State: Wonder Woman chapters I had read in a previous collection, but the rest was a chore to read as characters jumped all over or disappeared or did things just 'cuz.
