The Ceremonial of Bishops is not a liturgical rites book, as a Sacramentary or the Rite of Baptism would be. Rather, it is like a "how to" guide for priests, deacons and other liturgical ministers when participating at a Mass or other liturgical events where a bishop presides.
This book only contains parts of ceremonies and prayers and then refers to other texts for the complete ceremony, so it cannot stand on its own. Of course it does say given the GIRM and GILH, here is what you do. This show more lack of the full text is only an inconvenience, for those volumes should be readily available when needed. show less

An invaluable resource for Catholics interested in learning other languages or who sometimes attend Mass at a parish where English is not the primary language spoken
Provides the Ritual for Communion of the Sick. Provides a "Prayer for Preparation for the Minister" -- God of compassion, fill me with the power of your Word and the love of your Holy spirit as I visit your suffering sons and daughters."...
The Rite is outlined without mentioning Death or unction at all.
The minister greets the Sick (and others present) -- "The peace of the lord be with you always". Place the blessed sacrament on the table and join together in adoration.
The greeting is show more followed by sprinkling with Holy Water. (Sacrament of penance is omitted, yet the Penitential Rite is conducted, simply asking for forgiveness, and proceeding to confession....)
Partial text of four Psalms is included:
Psalm 23: 1-6 -- "The Lord is my shepherd..."
Psalm 34:1-9 -- "I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall ever be in my mouth."
Psalm 63:1-9 -- "O God, you are my God whom I seek"
Psalm 84:1-4, 9-12 -- "How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts!"
Psalm 103:1-6, 8, 10-13 -- "Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all my being, bless his holy name."
In my experience, a few of the older believers do find some comfort here.
This little book remains in my Chaplain Kit.
