Although the book offers an in-depth self-assessment tool, I am not convinced concerning the books fundamental distinction between serving gifts, spiritual gifts, and motivations gifts. The latter is the sole concern of this book. As the book admits, the survey revolves around personality type more than any other trait (e.g. giftedness). In all, this is a helpful resource, but the title might mislead many who are interested in a true "gifts analysis."

A very helpful book examining the 'motivational' gifts, as mentioned in the book of Romans. The authors take personality traits and assign different types of people to each of the gifts mentioned.

The theories are a bit complicated, but become clearer after the second or third reading, and some reflection. It ties in a little with other personality systems such as Myers-Briggs or the Enneagram (though not entirely). There are helpful questionnaires and some Scripture references to back up show more the authors' theories. show less

This book encourages husbands and wives to learn to appreciate and work with one another by means of coming to understand the motivational gifts each brings to their relationship.
