4274 Rebel at Large Recollections of Fifty Crowded Years, by George Creel (read 16 Feb 2007) The author was an important figure in World War One, when he was Information chief. He says good things about Woodrow Wilson. In 1934 He ran for the Democratic nomination for Governor of California but lost to Upton Sinclair. He says a few good things about FDR but mostly excoriates him and Harry Truman because of Truman being a product of the Pendergast machine in Missouri. His story of the early show more political career of Harry Truman is of great interest, but the final chapters of this 1947 book are a rant against liberals and make little sense. On balance, the book was not worth reading, though parts of it were of interest. show less
