Finished reading the book of Numbers in the Old Testament today, and along with it, this book. I am reading very slowly through the Bible with various commentaries. These help me to stop, pause and reflect on God's Word. New treasures every day, and every day God's love and concern confirmed. C.H. Mackintosh is somewhat difficult for a modern reader to get through, and I don't always agree with his thoughts, but often there are little nuggets and gems of wisdom. Enough to make me keep going. show more All the sacrifices, rules, regulations, etc., in Numbers, serve as reminders of God's loving care and provision for His people. show less
Volume 1 & 2 are my favorite in the series of commentaries on the pentateuch by MacKintosh. Many practical insights into our walk with Christ. I've been able to share much of it with my children.
Waded through it at Bible school but read through it again recently for the fun of it.
First printed between 1880-2.
Very informative
Excerpt from Notes on the Book of Genesis With the exception of the four gospels, I suppose there is no book in the Bible more deeply interesting than the Book of Genesis. It comes to us with all the freshness of God's first book to His people. The contents are varied, highly instructive, and most precious to the stu dent of God's entire book. These Notes are again laid at the Master's feet, in earnest prayer that He would take them up and send them forth under the stamp of His own divine show more approval. Amen. show less
