I was worried that a book of scorecards and stats from the past would be dry as dust; thankfully this is far from being the case. With Bill Frindall's succinct but perfectly judged synopses of each test match, these volumes are a rabbit hole from which you will struggle to emerge.

For about 20 years, I was a cricket club scorer, and used the "traditional" method of recording the facts and figures of the matches we played. However, I knew of Bill Frindall, and that he had devised his own system; this book documents the MCC tour to Australia of 1979/80, and when I saw the book on sale I took the opportunity to buy it, and try to put his system into practice. I've no idea where it came from.
