This is *the* best book on digital image processing I have ever read. It is the only book of its kind that I have ever read like a novel, spending one entire Christmas holiday curled up on the couch, devouring it. I like it because I can immediately turn its ideas into IDL code. That never really happened with the Russ book, for example.
