So as a beginner knitter, crocheter, and embroiderer, I look at how well I can learn from a book. This one did have very clear illustrations for all three things (with very helpful illustrations), which I think would make picking up a tool and crafting pretty easy. Things get more complicated in the instructions for making projects (sweaters, blankets, etc.), which are pretty typical instructions, but which I can't visualize. On the plus side, despite being from the sixties, the projects are show more classic and still something you might want to make. show less
I absolutely loved this book when I was 12 and it introduced me to a wide variety of needlecrafts. Its value to me as an experienced craftsperson is rather low, but its sentimental value is high. My rating is a compromise between the two.
Explains some of the dying arts of needlecraft. Slightly dated prose but good information.
