Going into this book, you know it's not going to be deep, life-changing material. What it is is pure fun. Enter the world of beautiful, shiny people in beautiful, shiny clothes. The world of gossip and glamor, name-dropping and novelty. Basicly, it's as close as I ever want to get to living in Hollywood.
There are several moments in this book where you (or at least, I) want to tell Taylor to smarten up and realize that the Mean Girls are, hello! MEAN GIRLS. She backstabbed you in the last show more chapter, do you really think that she wants to help you now? But other than that, Taylor was a great protagonist. She's nice enough to be likeable, but not so nice as to be cloying.
I read this book in an afternoon- it's fun, light reading that I think is perfect for a little summer escape if your budget doesn't stretch to Cuba. show less

I really, really liked this book. It's the kind of chick-lit I can stand - funny, smart narrator and very rich, dumb (or are they?) girls. I do wonder about the ultra-contemporary pop culture references - will those hold up in a few years?
The Good: This was a fun, fluffy series to read and I was pretty pleased with the where the characters ended up. Not everyone grew or changed, but that's what makes the entire situation realistic. Some people are going to end up on the same path they started on. I loved that we get pretty definite answers to the few remaining questions lingering from the earlier books and that we knew where everyone is off to, for the most part, now that high school is over.
The Bad: This book didn't flow show more nearly as well as the earlier novels in the series. It seemed as though the author got sidetracked cramming in everything readers wanted to know that the book ended up weirdly fast paced. show less

Another new series for me! I have not read any of the former A-List books, so I can’t compare to the original series, but I can say that I will be reading the rest of this one! I actually think I liked this one better than the Gossip Girl type novels, because the story is more about the characters and their internal battles with themselves, instead of the characters fighting over or with another character. Which I found refreshing!Dean kept the story moving, with an exciting fast-pace. The show more writing, while I wouldn’t consider it notable, is prominent in it’s own way. It makes for a fun and fluffy read. I love reading about celebrities, even if they are fictional. Overall, there must have been something that I liked, because I couldn’t stop turning the pages. I’m eagerly awaiting the rest of the series! show less
