Embark on a night's vacation with a young child (could be boy or girl) and his/her parents as they unknowingly check into the wrong motel on Halloween! With fantastic rhyming and descriptive details like "The snack machine had bottled slime and Bar-B-Que Bat Wings, Bloody-flavored Bubble Gum and bags of Wiggly Things", this could easily be used as a writing prompt with a focus on details and adjectives.
29 months - O is into anything Halloween especially if it's a bit creepy and spooky. The illustrations and story are alright but not spectacular.
An adventurous family goes on a trip to the Halloween Motel. They have a blast trick-or-treating door to door collecting treats like band-aids from a mummy and chewed up apples from a vampire. Imagine their surprise, however, then the manager tells them that THEY are the ones the other guests are calling "weird." This funny story is great for children who already know some of the familiar creepy characters that make Halloween a hoot.
I picked this book because it revolves around Halloween which is my favorite holiday. For this book, I would have kids write about their favorite monster or have them make up a monster and describe it or write about what they like best about Halloween.
