One odd aspect of this book, is that it's like a flip book of changing ideas of what a sexy woman looks like. As time goes on, the models get blonder, and more 'done'. By the late 1980s, the models look creepifyingly similar: blond, tanned, with fake tits, fake nails and a metric butt load of makeup and airbrushing. I way prefer looking at earlier decades.
I liked this book, and had it in a coffee table position for a few months. Needless to say, everyone took a gander, and had an opinion. I must say though, that I have a soft spot in my heart for the women from the 70's...long, natural hair; natural curves; natural breasts; and much more diverse in appearance overall. The articles of retrospection were also entertaining as well as relevant for the anniversary theme.
Ah, nostalgia... I grew up on Playboy when the premise of "The Girl Next Door" was still going strong, sophomoric sophistication and all. A little camp goes a long way!
