A classic in my view. another of the argumentative histories of a discipline of which I am so fond. Here Pinckaers promotes an approach to ethics rooted in the beatitudes as opposed to strictly the 10 commandments. Utterly orthodox in case that previous sentence set your heart a-flutterin'
A leading French Roman Catholic author. Not an easy read but an excellent account of Christian ethics which introduces both Scripture's teaching and the main thinkers in the Christian tradition (esp Aquinas) while also developing its own vision of Christian ethics. Helpful guides include to conscience (271-9).
A leading French Roman Catholic author. This is a sort of short popularisation of his more detailed 1995 study which traces the history of Catholic moral theology in Part I and then addresses issues more conceptually in Part II.
