The book SEEMS to be a mix of some orthodox doctrine and that influenced by higher critcism, depending on the introductory article read and the individual commentator. Examples: Tends toward non-Mosiac authorship of the Pentateuch; defines Genesis 1-11 as Hebrew tradition regarding the early history of the world and man; supports multiple authors of Isaiah; denies "that God would punish the innocent, or that for the sake of punishment inflicted on the innocent He could justly spare the show more guilty"; but appears to accept the bodily resurrection of Jesus, although it is possible I am being deceived by careful wording. I would welcome any comments if you have knowledge of this commentary or the character of commentaries written in that time period. I found interesting that when I did a search on the editor, I found the commentary referenced at the website, Zarahemia Research Foundation, an apologetic for the Book of Mormon. show less
