Reviews
An excellent analysis of the genesis of the Fianna Fáil. The book demonstrates how the party came to be the dominant force in Irish politics and Dunphy gives much coverage to how social and economic policy evolved during the tenure of de Valera. His conclusion chapter, in which he discusses potential threats to the party's political hegemony from left-wing urban centred parties (in this book he refers to the Workers Party and the 92 Gen. Election) is remarkably prescient.
