Stephen Cartwright (1947–2004)

My two-year-old grandson really enjoys this book although I find it a bit simple. It's a fun book, though, as most books by Usborne publishers turn out to be. There are colorful large pictures, objects to identify, small animals (a bird and a duck) to spot, flaps to open, and construction equipment which should enthrall any young boy! All of these make for enjoyable toddler reading...and re-reading.

I liked this book and would put it in my classroom library because it's a great book for young readers who are learning how to read. It has very simple text such as "Teddy and I take a bath before bedtime." "What a busy day!" This simple text won't overwhelm the reader into giving up. I also loved this book because it gives readers a great way to relate. Throughout the book it talks about everything a little girl does throughout the day. Such as, going shopping, drawing a picture, playing show more dress-up, and so on. A lot of younger readers do a lot of these activities everyday. Overall this was a great book and I think the big idea of this book is for young readers to be able to pick up this book and feel comfortable with reading the words on the pages. show less

This book is intended to be read by an adult to a child. Its purpose is to help children learn Italian language skills, and it is part of a set that includes other languages. The format of the book is very engaging. Each page has an outer border containing small pictures with labels in Italian. In the center of each page is large picture incorporating the pictures from the outside into an engaging snapshot. A parent can review the pictures and words in the outside border of each page, then show more use the picture to have a conversation about each one. This book is a great book that tells a rhyming story of a bear in search of a bed. The story uses imagination along with real life concepts, such as purchasing a bed in a story to him falling asleep in the store and him being moved to his own house and room. He dreams of bobbing “…on a wave into a cave”. This book is great for phonic readers.
