Out of the 20 books I borrowed from the library on dollhouse and dollhouse making, this was the one I was really looking for. Exactly "A Beginners' Guide to the Dolls' House Hobby." Useful tips, lots of color pictures, thoughtfully and articulately laid out.
This books is for folks who are tired of their Victorian doll houses and want to branch out. There are chapters for all the major interior design eras in the twentieth century, along with instructions on how to make some of the items (a lot of the furnishings come from suppliers in the U.K.). Best of all are the ideas of how to expand your idea of what a doll house is and how you can create all sorts of minature worlds (eg: apartment houses, gardens, and stores). I love this book and highly show more recommend it. show less
This is a very thorough guide to the dollhouse hobby. It has helped me emensly in creating authentic themed rooms for my new dollhouse. At first, furnishing my dollhouse seemed to be a daunting task, but this well illustrated guide put my fears at ease and held my hand throughout the process.
Until Ibought this book I did not realise that to qualify as a miniature book, the book must measure less than 3 inches in height.
