This is one of the best book investments I've ever made. My archaeology class (consisting of archaeologists, religious teachers, and geologists) all agreed that these are the best pictures of these artifacts we have ever seen- with the exception of the second to the last, something happened there. The text is clear, detailed, and complements the pictures well. Most of the time I get textbooks and sell them back, but this one has a permanent spot on my bookshelf.
I had this book as a textbook for a class of mine. It was a pretty good read though! I gave it only 3 stars because McRay often presented his opinion as fact. There were a few points that i didn't agree with, but overall this was a very informative and interesting read.
The author shows the influence of society, architecture and religion on the people of the first century. Very interesting.
The wealthy, cosmopolitan city of Corinth held unique opportunities for spreading the gospel of Christ--as well as some unusual pressures and temptations.
