Solomon Stoddard (1643-1729) was born in Massachusetts. He graduated from Harvard College in 1662 and became its first librarian in 1667. Ordained in 1672, he was pastor of the church at Northampton from 1672-1729, at which point his famous grandson, Jonathan Edwards, assumed the pastorate of that show more church. show less
