I chose this on a whim because I wanted some lightweight smut to relax with. So, i was pleasantly surprised to find such well-written smut!

Lee's Incubus series is definitely erotica, with a lot of explicit sex, but it also has some impressive world-building and interesting characters. Jessica arrives to spend a year of willing service with the sorcerer Azrael. His power and machinations have kept peace among the kingdoms for decades. At his side is a large panther, Mal, who is the key to show more Aztael's success. Jessica discovers Mal's true nature, and he unwittingly reveals that she is more than she knows. But can she trust him? And will Azrael let them be together?

The characters are developed fairly well in this first novella, and I came to care about them. So much that I ordered the rest of the series. This was a fun story, with some mystery and action, peppered with steamy and creative sex. Excellent.

Now free of his bonds, Mal and Jessica have been exploring the world for the last four months when Azrael shows up at their rented cottage. He needs Mal's help to create a portal that has never been done so far from the source of magic. Mal sees his opportunity to push Azrael to finally give in to their mutual desire. He will help, for one night without his wards. But, creating the gate isn't their only problem when Azrael learns a new wizard council wants to put him on trial for dark magic, show more the Queen of fairies wants revenge on him and there's a demon hunter after Mal!

This installment pushes the line on consent, since Azrael is actually afraid to drop his wards and be vulnerable to Mal's incubus power. But, after years of forcefully taking magic from Mal, their relationship has always been a power struggle. Lee tempers this via Jessica, who sees how both men are scared of being hurt and actively works to ease those fears. The sexual tension is high, since the payoff doesn't come until the end, but it was worth it.

I loved how much more agency Jessica has in this story and the introduction of Lucy. The sex was hot and the story continues to be fun. Looking forward to more.

As a fan of both fantasy and mm romance I think this is a successful combination of both. It reminds me of Game of Thrones a bit, with all the intrigue, deception and plot twists. The dynamics between Roland and Sairis make sense, as does their developing relationship. The supporting characters are interesting and believable. I do appreciate that there is some trans inclusiveness. My only small criticism is that this really should have been just one book instead of broken up into three. I show more can't imagine anybody would want to stop reading after the first or second book. show less
Dreaming was another engaging installment of this erotic series. Mal, Jessica and Ren have formed a consensual relationship, but they still have unresolved issues and hidden insecurities holding them back. When Ren acquires a dreaming book, they are all put in danger when he triggers a trap that causes him to forget Mal and Jessica. But the three have friends who will risk everything to help. They are racing the clock, as the Magician's Council is coming to the aisle in only a few show more days.

Though Tabula Rasa stories are not my favorite, they often facilitate strong character development. That was the case here. Mal and Lucy have a long overdue heart to heart, Jessica must tell Ren what she really needs and Ren meeds to finally drop all defenses to the two people he loves most. There's still a lot of hot sex, but also a lot of emotional catharsis and a very satisfying conclusion.
