‘Poem Beginning with a Line Almost Entirely from Browning’, Overland, no. 145, Summer 1996, p. 41. by Bruce Dawe
Clever and entertaining poem which substitutes the names of great Romantic era poets for football players to create a very literary match report. Five stanzas.
‘Stripes and Colours (after Cesar Vallejo)’, Outrider: A Journal of Multicultural Literature in Australia, vol. 10, 1993, pp. 157. by Bruce Dawe
A fan anticipates watching the beginning of the football season on TV. Entertaining, subtle and well-crafted piece. One stanza, and one line. Also published in Bruce Dawe, A Poet's People, (1999), p. 120.
