There is a lot of nonsense in this book from the theological point of view but it does give a nice sweep of the histor of angels and cherubs in art and exolains some iof the thinking that seems to have been involved. It alos reveals some of the code - red wings and blue and lilies, etc.
An art book I've had since childhood but this is the first time I've actually read the words accompanying the pictures, describing Escher's actual lifetime. Kinda interesting. I know enough about the artist now to know that some key pieces are missing from the book, but it's an old favourite all the same.
Just love Escher. This wonderful book gives some idea of the man and his art.
