This book was okay. I liked the idea of the book but I had a hard time connecting with the main characters. Elise was married and widowed at a very young age. Since then she has protected herself by playing the part of a heartless flirt. Then her sister ends up falling for a Scotsman who leaves her pregnant, then she dies in childbirth. Elise is left with trying to find a way to tell his family about the baby. This worries her a lot because her sister had nothing good to say about the show more family. When she meets Colin, the baby's uncle, she is not impressed by him at all. She finds him crude and rude, but is also drawn to him. She spends most of the book trying to tell him about the baby, but only telling bits at a time which get she into trouble with him. I know she is young, but I really wanted to smack her at times. Colin was definitely living up to his reputation as a barbarian. He kept giving her orders, not listening when she tried to tell him things, and generally being a butthead. There were occasional glimpses of a nice guy, but then he'd turn around and be an ass again. Perhaps if the author had included his point of view and thoughts his actions might have been understandable, but most of the time he just seemed mean. The last few chapters were the best, but even the resolution wasn't completely satisfying with Colin going from ass to lover in just a few pages. I preferred the maid, Daisy, and Colin's servant, Miles, as characters. show less
A Perfect Knight for Love by Jackie Ivie

Love the detailed descriptions of the countryside and the castles. That's what attracted me to wanting to read this book.
Love the time frame and how things were done.

Wolf Protector

The FBI has been called in to a small college town. Their special unit has some very special talents. Erica's special talent allows her insight into the specifics of a crime. She not only sees but experiences the events.
The other members of the team have special talents as well. Trent is a wolf shifter. He' known since he met Erica that she was his mate. Only thing is the lady has baggage, and doesn't want to add more to her pile by getting involved with the cocky hunk.
This show more story grabs your attention and keeps you turning the pages. Between the murder mystery to unravel, the wolf trying to protect his unknowing mate, and the budding steamy relationship there's never a dull moment. Wolf Protector is fast paced, sizzling hot and intriguing all rolled into one great book!

Why These Two

Darryl Bailes, former military sergeant due to a career ending injury, finds someone with knife skills as sharp as his own. Currently working as a mercenary, he's vexed when he comes in contact with Reika.
As a part of a protection detail, his first encounter is with Reika the assassin. He doesn't know what's hit him with this twist on love at first sight, and neither does Reika the vampire assassin.
This is a fast paced read with sizzle and pop. Darryl weaves his way into the reader's heart just as much as Reika's. Good thing she's on the written page, she tends to be very jealous. I know I wouldn't want her mad at me!

Death Times Two

Lisa Carron is on her second adventure in her new job as an Angel of Death, a Grim Reaper. Being cute and quirky, she's pretty much atypical for the job. Normally, she's assigned the reaps of stupid souls. You know the type, the souls that drive a snowmobile on thin ice and expect nothing to happen and then get stuck under the ice. This time her boss sends her to an exclusive resort in the wilds of Alaska.
Asa, the hunky head of security at the V V Inn isn't sure that there is any reason for a Reaper to visit during the off season. After all, there's no such thing as ghosts, right?
Asa's in for a rude awakening. Spending time with Lisa reveals a lot more than just the ghosts. Asa and Lisa are in for an adventure that neither will forget. It's been a long time since either of them have had the sparks fly. Watching their interactions, nervousness, lusty desires make the ghost vanquishing even more important. After all, Lisa has a job to do and Asa is there to protect her.
This book whets my appetite for more. I can't wait to see what happens to Lisa in her series. I can't wait to see what happens next in the V V Inn Series. These two authors have seamlessly joined forces in creating a book that is entertaining and keeps the integrity of their own story lines. It truly was a delightful evening's read that I did not put down until it was finished. I hope Asa will continue to make appearances in Lisa's books, as well as, Lisa being called up to the V V Inn to help out, or just to enjoy a romp in the Alaskan resort.

Hunter's Blood

Lily Saburi worked with her best friend Terri as psychic investigators. They helped the police solve the unsolvable. On one unlucky investigation, Terri was murdered by a rabid were. From that point on, Lily's focus became revenge. She trained, she hunted and she was determined to put the animal that murdered her only friend down.
Sean Leighton has another problem. He's the alpha of a community of supernaturals, one where many werewolf packs are trying to form a solid, supportive democracy. Their community is working together for the benefit of all the packs involved. Leadership is a hard mantle for this Alpha.
These two are thrown together, as the werewolf that killed Terri is the brother of Sean. This tale is woven together in a fast paced opening tale to the Blood Saga Series. You wonder if love will triumph, since the lead character is literally gunning for the Alpha's brother. You wonder if the Alpha's instant awareness of the special relationship that is about to blossom is doomed from the beginning, since his brother injured her.
Sean is definitely between a rock and a hard place and the reader is left holding a book that leaves you wanting more! This is a series that I'll definitely be reading more of.

A Wicked Prelude

Calinda B sends us back in time, giving us the gift of Chérie Manhattan and Cam Tyson's back story and illuminating Kayden's role in being her earthly match maker. Chérie doesn't want anything to do with men, so Kayden has got his work cut out for him.
I fell right into the story, nodding as tidbits that I didn't realize I had questions about were unfolding. Everything fell into place. Numerous times I think, `Oh, I bet that's why ____,' as this masterful artist crafted her story.
A Wicked Prelude is a delightful read, especially if you've enjoyed the other books in the Wicked Series. It isn't necessary to read the other books first, or to read this book before you start reading the series. To me, it seems to stand alone quite well.

Dragon's Honor

A fast paced page turner that kept me reading on and on. Duke and Baron, shadow dragons are assigned protection duty for a human daughter of a business mogul. Daddy wants his little princess protected, but the princess doesn't think she needs protecting. Fortunately, there's a spark, instantaneous recognition that Baron's dragon knows how special this Daddy's princess really is.
Ms. Carter has woven a magical tale of paranormal excitement. Not only do you get dragons, you get redcaps (a fascinating lot, be sure to have some iron handy), trolls (that can make a nice midnight snack for a hungry dragon) and a cute little dragonet. Of course, there has to be the evil wizard that is behind the mischievous lot. And Baron's dragon provides a whole lot of sizzle and steam between him and Honor.
Great read, I can't wait to read more of this series.

Playing the Odds

S. A. Price opens the doors to Vegas in this engaging tale. Sydney is a dancer with a fan that watches every night. He says nothing, just sits in the back watching her do her thing. Thing is, he's a hunky and Sydney has her own fantasies about him.

Come to find out,Jace is looking for someone just like Sydney and all her secret talents. What starts out as mutual admiration turns into something more, sizzling hot more.Sydney and Jace make quite the pair and as the story unfolds there are twists that knocked me off my chair and had me doing the OMG!Not going to put this book down now thing. Ms. Price definitely knows how to throw a monkey wrench into Jace's plans. But you'll have to read it to find out how things work out.

Nibbled by the Vamp

What a delightful read. A short novella that opens the doors to a new series. Griffin, strong and capable protector has found his one and only, his other half. I wonder if he knows what he's getting into with Wren. Eternity is a long time with someone whose mouth is on overdrive.

Wren, bless her heart, has stumbled into a situation that just may push her over the edge. She's got the hots for one handsome vamp, but who wants perpetually cold hands touching and feeling. Other than the fact he's got a whole lot of experience and some special skills.

There is a lot of the 'F'bomb, and it definitely is an adult book. It will be interesting to see where this series is going to lead.

This has been a great set of books to read. I've really enjoyed the whole set and would highly recommend it to any paranormal fans. I now have some more authors to be adding to my lists of favorites!
